tahoe day 2 - lunch and hike to squaw valley

this was a burger joint in truckee that seemed to be really popular.  it's called burger me.  here you see ps and vj crossing the road and entering the restaurant.

my lunch.  it's called the truckee trainwreck and if you think eating at carl's jr is messy, this is even worse!  that's why they give you such a big metal plate - to catch everything that drops out of your burger and it's easy to clean as well. but it was quite good i have to say.  there is a fried egg inside as well.  i suppose it's called trainwreck because it's like getting hit by a train?  you feel really stuffed after eating the whole thing.

we then made our way to squaw valley.  it is one of the largest ski resorts in the US and was also the site of the 1960 winter olympics.

our original plan was to take the cable car, normally used for skiers, up to a high point and then do a short hike along the top of a ridge.  at the peak, it is some 9000 feet above sea level.  but when we got there, they told us that we could take the cable car but it was not advisable to hike as there was still snow up there and it might be dangerous.  so in the end we decided not to take the cable car, but would still do our own hike up another area where there are waterfalls.

a nice pleasant hike, though in some parts it gets a bit tricky where you have to scramble a bit.  and some of the views are great.

looks impressive huh?  we were just kidding around.

a panoramic landscape of one of the many rapids/ waterway along our path.

a well deserved cool drink after a fairly long hike.  the drink is called an arnold palmer - the golfer.  tea with lemonade.  it was named after him because it was his favourite drink.
