memorial church

today after class we had a free campus tour.  guide was an old chap but the group was too big and i did not manage to hear much of what he said.  but he did say that the church was destroyed in the san francisco earthquake and all the stained glass was destroyed.  however luckily, someone had made watercolour reproductions of all the glass and they managed to rebuild the church as it was.

an external view of one of the stained glass windows.

after the church we went to the stanford bookshop.  you can see the bookshop in the background.  then i decided that i would walk to the stanford mall but i sort of got lost along the way even though i kept asking for directions.  i went into this piece of 'forest' or park and stumbled on the mausoleum of the founder and his family.

this is a little garden facing the mausoleum.
