lunch surprise

today was asian food day, though i wish that with the singaporean dinner coming up tonight, the chef could have put this on another day.  but it's nice today too.  we had a choice of either rice or bee hoon (which they served and which caused a long queue).  i was really excited because i thought it would come with hot soup.  so i added my ingredients, which included tofu, pork, beef and chicken and tow gay (bean sprouts) and got to the end of the line but there was no soup!  it was a choice of different sauces like teriyaki and fish sauce (with lime).  i took the fish sauce and it was nice but i had had my heart set on soup.  it was still quite good though.

thought i would take more pictures of the place, especially stuff that many would not deem worthy of a photo, but i thought it would help me remember the place.  so here's the corridor leading to my room, which is right next to a fire exit, which is good and also convenient.

this is my room, which is the last room at the end of the corridor.  and here's the laundry room.

i decided to go look for the campus barber for a haircut.  so i took out my bike, and rode around and just enjoyed the scenery on a beautiful day.

i think i may have cycled a bit too far and ended up here.

and here's my bike taking a rest.

found the barber, or hair salon rather, but it was already closed for the day.  will try and head back there tomorrow, and maybe visit the cycle shop again.

the brompton rides beautifully for a bike of this nature.  of course you cannot compare it to a normal road or mountain or utility bike.  it is tough, sturdy, absorbs most shocks with no fuss and just hums along.  the only thing to be careful about is that the small wheels need some getting used to but the rest was a breeze.  it gets a lot of interesting comments from people who see it.  "handy", "neat" etc...

the folding mechanism is the most elegant and coolest in the world.  you can go on youtube to view what the folding sequence looks like, though i think matt and ethan went with me to the bike shop in singapore and saw it for themselves.
