naked fish and cedar pines resort

after our horseback ride adventure, it was time for dinner and then check in.  ps found a japanese sushi place and we headed there.  in case you were wondering about the title, naked fish is the name of the restaurant we ate at.

place is not much to look at, sort of like a slightly bigger and better version of keys cafe, but hey, all we cared about was the food.

there was a sort of japanese looking chap behind the counter so i guess it's authentic enough:)  i can't recall what we had, but i do remember it was quite good.

and then we were off to our home for the next two nights.  ps had wanted to get accommodation at camp richardson, well not at the camp, but some cabin near there which he thought was more authentic.  but it was full.  so we came to cedar pines resort and from the outside, to be honest it looked like a shoebox.  but we were prepared and did not have high expectations so it wasn't that bad.

yes it isn't very big.  that much is obvious from the pictures here.  but step inside, and it's fairly well equipped.  i think it's actually a winter vacation home for the owner because there is all kinds of stuff in the cupboards and fridge.  and a sign that says to take care of the stuff there because they belong to the owners.

as you step through the door and look to the right, which is the view of the entire place.  so you see the kitchen and the room at the end, which is the one i took.  i warned them that i snore, so they kindly let me have that room.

view of the front door from the couch.  there is a bar counter at the kitchen (left) where you can have meals.

my room.  a bit cramped but good enough for short stays.

stairs leading to the two "rooms" upstairs.  they aren't really rooms, as you can see from the picture below.  it is an open concept room, and it overlooks the couch area.

view of the couch.

interesting story here on our first night.  i was the last to go to bed and before going into my room, i wanted to use the toilet.  i found to my horror, that someone had accidentally locked it from the inside.  it was saturday night, and i wondered how we could get someone to come and help.  no locksmith is going to come on sunday.  well, not unless we pay a lot.

then i took a look at the lock and discovered that the keyhole was really just a hole.  i could not recall if it was a push button type lock but figured that if the keyhole was just a hole, maybe i could unlock it by using a stick to pop open the lock or whatever.  i had no real idea what i was doing but it was better than having to go out to pee in the cold:)

i then found a pair of disposable chopsticks and lo and behold, i managed to pop the lock.  i still don't know how i did it.  that was really lucky.
