tahoe day 1 - rawhide!

and so after we climbed back up the hill to where our car was, it was time to go saddle up.  ps had booked a one-hour horse ride at zephyr cove stables which is in the state of nevada.  but state lines (the boundary), which are marked by a sign, are sometimes so innocuous that if you blinked, you would miss it while going past in the car.

remember we tried to check out a stable in carmel or was it monterey when we were here last december but found no one at the office?  apparently they don't have rides in the winter months, at least according to our guide on our ride.

this was my horse - rainman.

and i am all set, saddled up and ready to go.  yee ha!!

this is what happens when you have ridden a horse for too long:)  nah, just kidding around.  it was only an hour's ride.  but some practical advice for future rides.  wear long pants.  the legs are on the outside of  the horse and when he squeezes past some plants or branches etc, you will get some nice designs on your legs if they aren't covered.

here's a little video of what the view from horseback looks like.
